Mara Mesa, MA, RMHCI
Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern, IMH10816

We live in a world of constant change that happens whether we are ready or not to endure what it brings. Our thoughts are filled with the constant emotional pains of the past or the overwhelming anxiety of the future. It can be difficult to find someone who understands how we feel or even someone whom we can trust to share our deepest thoughts and feelings.

Mara is a veteran and a trauma-informed therapist who is passionate about assisting adults with developing or reinforcing their coping skills. She has experience with substance use disorders and co-occurring issues such as depression, anxiety, and other life circumstances. Mara is trained in CPT, EMDR, and DBT, and she can incorporate Biblical counseling if requested.

As a Registered Mental Health Counselor, Mara provides a safe and nonjudgmental atmosphere where you can feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings. She is available to assist you in beginning the process of healing and empowerment. Mara believes in a strong therapeutic relationship with her client and that successful therapy stems from a collaborative approach.

Licensed Mental Health Counselor, MH14065

If you’re reading this, you’re likely on a journey of self -discovery and growth. This can often be an overwhelming and intimidating task. I would be honored to assist you on this path. I’m hoping my experience and passion for a holistic approach will provide an atmosphere of safety and validation where you can either begin or continue learning strategies and skills for fulfillment.

I have an eclectic mix of experience and treatment approaches. My professional background includes working with teens and adults in a variety of settings. It includes working with those who have experienced addiction; both themselves and with family members or partners, legal problems, family stressors/conflicts, trauma/PTSD, mood and personality disorders, grief, divorce/separation, life changes; unexpected and planned, career/workplace difficulties, pregnancy/fertility struggles, domestic violence, low self- esteem, and existential dilemmas.

I provide a safe and supportive forum to help guide you on your journey. I value the importance of including ”back to basic” self-care opportunities, such as adding a few minutes of nature or unstructured time alone or with a loved one into your daily life, listening to music or favorite podcast, enjoying a bike ride or exercise class. We tend to forget how these seemingly “small” yet vital aspects get overlooked in our busy and chaotic lives. I look forward to meeting you!
